Julie Snellman grew up at Art’s.

Our Roots

Well, not literally, but it was always a big part of her life. You see, Art Lundstrom is Julie’s father, and he and her mother Mary, opened Art’s Furniture and Music in 1977, before she was born.

Art initially wanted to run a sporting goods store, but realized it was more feasible to operate a furniture and music store (instruments, sheet music, records and supplies).

Through the years, the music department became less and less, which lead Art and Mary to add flooring to their selection. The store then became Art’s Furniture and Carpet. Later, window treatments were added as well.

Julie got her entrepreneurial spirit from her parents and those early years at the store. After graduating from Montana State University, she started a small coffee and dessert business from scratch before selling it 5 years later, just before moving back to Malta. That small business was a great foundation for owning and managing Art’s.

Present-Day

In 2016, Julie and her husband, Jason, bought Art’s Furniture and Carpet when the opportunity came up. Their children had started kindergarten, and buying the business was another life change for them, but also an easy decision once they really talked about what it would mean for their family and future.

Being a wife and mother with a young growing family, while owning and managing a family business, Julie can relate to Art’s’ customers who also have busy lifestyles.

They want quality, value and hassle-free sales, service and delivery, That is the core of what Art’s offers customers.

Art’s Furniture and Carpet makes a point to carry furniture, appliance, flooring and window treatment manufacturers who offer quality, well constructed products in all price ranges, that stand up to busy lifestyles and families.

Appliances were introduced in 2016, and the appliance service and repair division was added in 2017 for warranty and non-warranty work.

Throughout 40 years of business, Art’s has remained in it’s original location on Central Avenue, in Malta, Montana, although it has expanded to 7000+ square feet of showroom and another 6500+ square feet of warehoused inventory.

Art’s Furniture and Carpet serves Malta and the surrounding communities and looks forward to many more years to come.
